Children and young people from 0-18 years of age throughout Galway county and in particular to those who have difficulty accessing performance music education in their locality. / Leanaí agus daoine óga ó 0-18 bliain d’aois ar fud Chontae na Gaillimhe, agus go háirithe dóibh siúd a mbíonn sé deacair orthu oideachas ceoil taibhithe/ar stáitse a fháil ina gceantar féin.

Music Generation offers tuition at a variety of locations throughout Galway. The number of schools and venues we operate in continues to grow. Lán Le Ceol

4-12 years
A child-centred performance music education approach for Junior Infants – 6th Class which engages children in active music-making in primary school settings through singing activities, games, rhythm, solfége and improvisation encouraging independent music-making from an early age.

13-18 years
A popular music access programme for teenagers providing tuition in a range of instruments and vocals as well as ensemble playing, creating opportunities for participants to meet like-minded musicians and form bands and write their own music.

The Ukulele Programme

The focus of the HUM 'N' STRUM programme is to allow children and young people to gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of music performance. They do this while learning to play ukulele individually and collectively with their peers in a whole class setting.

An Introduction to Traditional Music

TRADAVARIOUS is a primary and after-school programme for children from Junior Infants to 6th Class delivered by Music Generation Galway County. The various elements of Irish trad music are explored in a fun and engaging way.

Music Generation Galway County is pleased to announce its Galway Schools’ Choir initiative. Participating school classes drawn from different schools will be given expert tuition from our Musician Educator team in the area of group singing.

Uilleann Pipes Tuition Programme

10-18 years
Music Generation Galway County’s Uilleann Pipes tuition programme is delivered in partnership with Na Píobairí Uilleann. It is currently running in two locations – Inverin and Corr Na Móna and is delivered through both English and Irish.

The Music Hubs are our exciting new project for children and young people in Galway County– one in the East of the county and one in the West! The music hubs, are based in Ballinasloe and Clifden and offer affordable weekly music lessons to young people ages 6 to 17 delivered by Music Generation Galway County’s talented and highly-trained Musician Educators.

An Introduction to the basics of musicianship

A flexible musicianship and instrumental tuition programme designed to inspire young musicians. It will instil a love and understanding of music in the minds of students at a young age.

PROTEK is a Music Technology programme for Transition Year students delivered by Music Generation Galway County. This programme is designed to introduce students to the basics of music recording, editing and production while using production software.

Galway Traditional Orchestra comprises young (ages 15-25) Galway-based Irish traditional musicians performing alongside other ensemble members who are drawn from other musical traditions (pop, classical etc).

Tá sé mar aidhm ag Music Generation saol leanaí agus daoine óga a shaibhriú trí rochtain a thabhairt dóibh ar oideachas ceoil thaibhithe ar ardchaighdeán ar phraghas níos ísle. Is é a mháthairchuideachta, Music Network, a thionscain Music Generation agus tá sé á mhaoiniú ag U2, Cistí na hÉireann, an Roinn Oideachais agus Scileanna agus Comhpháirtíochtaí Áitiúla Oideachais Ceoil (féach rialachas).

Music Generation Galway County is part of Music Generation, Ireland’s National Music Education Programme which transforms the lives of children and young people through access to high-quality, subsidised performance music education. Established by its parent company Music Network, Music Generation is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships (see governance). 

As part of a national network, Music Generation Galway County is managed and funded locally by Galway and Roscommon Education & Training Board (GRETB), with other local funding partners Galway County Council, Galway Rural Development, Tusla, Foróige, Youth Work Ireland and Involve.
